Process
CPTED Certification Process
Initial Consultation: The CPTED-AP™ will meet with the building owner or property manager to discuss the goals of the CPTED assessment, answer any questions, and gather necessary information about the property.
Threat, Risk, and Vulnerability Assessment (TRVA): Before conducting the site-specific CPTED assessment, the CPTED-AP™ would perform a TRVA. This comprehensive assessment will identify potential threats, risks, and vulnerabilities that the property may face. The TRVA is critical for understanding the unique security challenges for a property being CPTED Certified™.
Site Assessment: Following the TRVA, the CPTED-AP™ will carry out a CPTED assessment of the property. This includes a review of the building layout, landscape design, lighting, access control, surveillance capabilities, and maintenance practices from a CPTED (ISO 22341) perspective.
Report Preparation: After the assessment, the CPTED-AP™ will prepare a detailed report outlining their findings. This report will identify the property's current strengths and weaknesses in relation to CPTED (ISO 22341) principles.
Recommendations: The CPTED-AP™ will provide a list of suggested security improvements in the report, based on the findings from the TRVA and CPTED site assessment. These recommendations can involve modifications to physical design, improvements to lighting or surveillance, or the implementation of new management practices.
Implementation: The building owner or property manager, with their team or hired contractors, will then implement the recommended changes. The CPTED-AP™ may offer guidance or oversight during this phase to ensure the changes align with CPTED (ISO 22341) principles.
Final Evaluation and Certification: Once all the recommended changes have been made, the CPTED-AP™ will conduct a final evaluation. If the property meets the required CPTED (ISO 22341) standard, the CPTED-AP™ will certify that they have assessed the property in accordance with the CPTED ISO 22341and confirm it is CPTED Certified™.
